Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate fuel cost for a trip?
Fuel cost = (Distance ÷ 100) × Fuel consumption (L/100km) × Fuel price per liter. For example: 300km trip at 8L/100km at $1.50/L = (300÷100) × 8 × $1.50 = $36.
How do I calculate fuel cost in MPG?
For MPG: Gallons used = Distance (miles) ÷ MPG. Then multiply by price per gallon. For example: 200 miles at 30 MPG at $3.50/gallon = 6.67 gallons × $3.50 = $23.33.
What is a good fuel efficiency?
A fuel-efficient small car typically achieves 5–6L/100km (40–47 MPG). Average family cars use 7–9L/100km (26–34 MPG). SUVs and trucks typically use 10–14L/100km (17–24 MPG). Hybrid cars can achieve 4–5L/100km.
How can I improve my fuel efficiency?
Drive at steady speeds (highway speeds of 90–100 km/h are most efficient), keep tires properly inflated, remove unnecessary weight from your car, use cruise control, and avoid rapid acceleration and braking.
How do I convert L/100km to MPG?
To convert L/100km to MPG (US): MPG = 235.21 ÷ L/100km. For example: 8L/100km = 235.21 ÷ 8 = 29.4 MPG. To convert MPG to L/100km: L/100km = 235.21 ÷ MPG.
